Chicken Bun Bun is a cozy spot on W Main St in Alhambra, specializing in chicken sandwiches and fried chicken with a local twist. The atmosphere feels casual and straightforward—ideal for a quick, satisfying meal rather than a sit-down dining event. Inside, the seating is ample enough to eat in, but many choose to pick up or take out, especially around early evening when parking fills up.

The kitchen focuses on crispy fried chicken, with standout menu options like the spicy chicken sandwich and the walnut shrimp sandwich, offering something a bit different from typical chicken-centered eateries. Regulars tend to lean toward the spicy chicken sandwich, especially with the dark meat option, which they say strikes a good balance of crispy without excess oil, paired with pickles, coleslaw, and well-chosen sauces. Adding waffle fries or curly fries as a side is a popular choice, complementing the crunchy texture of the chicken.

Beverage-wise, Chicken Bun Bun carries a variety of tea drinks including jasmine green milk tea, Thai tea, and iced coffee, which locals often pick to accompany their meal. This pairing nods to the area’s diverse flavor influences and gives diners a refreshing counterpart to the spice and richness of the chicken.

The pace here is relaxed but efficient, especially for those who use the mobile ordering option to minimize wait times. The crowd is a mix of local workers grabbing a quick bite and families picking up dinner, particularly on weekday evenings. Prices are reasonable, making it an easy go-to for a casual but flavorful chicken fix.

If you’re someone who appreciates a solid fried chicken sandwich with a little kick and doesn’t need a full-service dining experience, Chicken Bun Bun fits nicely into the Alhambra neighborhood’s lunchtime and early dinner options. It’s a straightforward, no-fuss place where the food delivers what it promises—a crispy, juicy chicken sandwich with thoughtful sides and drinks.

Absolutely amazing. After a disappoint go at the Mancoras peruivian cuisine on main, I found this place in walking distance. Gave it a shot and the chicken is amazing. The #1 recommendation is have is the #1 Chicken sandwich (white or dark meat) it's by far the best chicken sandwich I've had. Easily blowing Raising Canes and all other chicken sandwich establishments out of the park. The balance between each ingredient was spot on and I could easily devour multiple of these in one sitting due to how good it is. 100% recommend this place. Side note, for any people planning to eat here. Order ahead of time (sometimes it can take 30+ minutes) and avoid the wraps, go for the chicken on the bun instead. It's vastly superior because the wraps seem to be poorly constructed. The wraps seem to be overflowing with sauce which makes the wrap soft and weak so its, hard to hold let alone eat, without it breaking apart in your hands

Chicken Bun Bun was my recent favorite discovery for when I was craving a chicken sandwich. This located off of Main Street. It wasn’t busy in the store, but parking was a bit crowded at around 5:30 pm. Ahead of the visit, I placed a mobile order. It was ready when I arrived and the check in was easy. There was plenty of seating inside, but opted to bring it home. For the order, I got the spicy chicken sandwich and popcorn chicken. The sandwich had crunchy chicken with a spicy mayo. The bun held the sandwich together well. The pickles added extra flavor to it. While there was a lot of flavor, the spiciness took me back a bit. It was much spicer than the other time that I had it and was on the uncomfortable side. For the popcorn chicken, it was crispy and the portion is very much shareable. I did feel they did not provide enough sauce. Once you run out, it could taste a bit dry.

My favorite fried chicken sandwich. Consistently good. Crispy. Never too oily. The coleslaw, pickles, sauce and bread/bun blend perfectly together. I prefer the dark meat (sweeter, juicier.) The combo comes with your choice of sides: French fries, curly fries, waffle fries, onion rings! They also sell Boba, green teas and Thai iced tea drinks (+$4.) It goes great with the sandwiches. So when I crave a good chicken sandwich, I go here.

It's aight. The spicy chicken has a good level of spice. It's not a little weenie spice. The waffle fries remind me of curly fries from Jack in the Box. Overall it's a decent place. I would try something else from the menu.

Super tasty, reasonably priced chicken! I got a spicy sandwich and popcorn chicken, and both were really good. The chicken was juicy, crispy, and flavorful. The seasoning tasted somewhere between Nashville hot and Taiwanese seasoning. Definitely gonna come back

No lie, the spicy chicken sandwich with dark meat I had here this past Saturday was probably the best chicken sandwich of any sort I've ever had. It was exceptional. I assume it was made with multiple pieces of thigh meat, and the flavor of the marinated meat and spice blend in the breading, crispness of the breading, and fresh delivery were just the best. It's Wednesday night and I've spent a lot of time thinking about what made this sandwich so good. Haha. People complain here about the wait for the food. You're waiting for a cook to make your meal after you order it, not serve it to you from under a heat lamp. The seasoning on the crinkle cut fries is really nice. The popcorn chicken is insane, and a real value. We got an order to go to snack on after the show we were headed to. Man, it was good, and came with a nice side sauce. We eat at a lot of places on our way to shows in LA, but this place is at the top of my list of places to come back to. Good prices, remarkably good food, friendly service... What more you want? It just out-of-control good.

I tried the spicy chicken sandwich and a side of cheese sticks. The sandwich is huge! For the money I think it's a pretty good value. It was fried perfectly, very juicy with a good crispy coating. Spice level was good if you're looking for a sandwich spicier than a Popeye's sandwich but not overpowering heat. Very tasty flavor. The cheese sticks were also very good and fried with a light crispy coating, and the mozzarella had the right amount of salty flavor. Overall this place was great!
